Chestnut Street Coffeehouse

The Chestnut Street Coffeehouse, which is a subcommittee of our Music Committee, will provide a safe and affordable outlet for social interaction and community building. It also provides a diverse program in a warm, open, and supportive environment, appealing to a wide audience with a special effort to include young adults. Doors open at the UUCL, 538 West Chestnut Street, at 7:00 p.m., and performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $6.00 for adults, $3.00 for ages 6-12, and free for ages 5 and under unless otherwise noted.

FIRE IN THE GLEN—An exciting Celtic duo serves up a rollicking selection of traditional music from Ireland, Scotland, and the Canadian Maritimes, served with some unusual and humorous twists.

Friday, October 12

PEDRICK-SMITH DUO—The Philadelphia area guitar duo of David Pedrick and Thomas Smith performs an eclectic mix of classical, Celtic, Latin-American, jazz, and original music.

Friday, November 9

LATE FOR SUPPER—An eclectic group, playing a variety of music on guitar, fiddle, and banjo. Old-time Appalachian fiddle tunes are sure to get your feet tapping. Creative arrangements of bluegrass, gospel, folk tunes sung in three part harmony leave audiences wanting more.

Friday, December 14

INISHOWEN—This lively traditional folk group’s repertoire is drawn from the rich musical heritage of the seafaring nations—especially Britain, Ireland, Canada, and the United States.

THE REESE PROJECT—A return engagement! If you missed them during our 2006-07 season, now is your chance to experience The Reese Project and their innovative “East Coast Cool” jazz sounds. Performing jazz standards and original compositions, this band is always compelling and exciting to hear and see perform.

Friday, May 9

RUSS RENTLER—Our season finale! Russ performs original and traditional music, counting Bob Dylan, John McCutcheon, and Walt Michaels as major influences in his style. His live performances are a mix of Folk, Celtic, and Blues-inspired tunes with multiple instrument changes interspersed with Russ’s off-beat humor and wry observations about life.
