We are the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lancaster, a leading voice of liberal faith in our community, a sacred force for love and justice.
- 1. We will know we are a leading voice when:
- 1.1. Our members are aware of the UU stance and actions on local, regional and national levels.
- 1.2. Our activities and programs are known in the community at large.
- 1.3. UUCL takes leadership in regional denominational activities.
- 1.4. We intentionally seek dialogue and shared action with other local faith groups to promote shared values.
As individuals, we engage across generations, sustained by worship and learning, seeking and sharing wisdom drawn from many sources.
- 2. We are living out our responsibilities as individuals when:
- 2.1. Members and friends have opportunities for spiritual growth throughout the year.
- 2.1.1. Members pursue individual faith development.
- 2.1.2. Worship attendance is growing.
- 2.1.3. Worship opportunities are expanding.
- 2.2. Members are actively engaged in teaching and learning from our children and youth.
- 2.2.1. Faith development programs are fully staffed.
- 2.2.2. Children and youth actively participate in the life of the church.
- 2.1. Members and friends have opportunities for spiritual growth throughout the year.
In community, we create sanctuary, gather strength from our diversity, honor and respect one another.
- 3. We create sanctuary when:
- 3.1. Members and visitors experience welcome at our activities and events.
- 3.2. Staff and lay leaders identify and respond to membership needs.
- 4. We gather strength from our diversity when:
- 4.1. We express welcome and value to different ages, cultures, races, national origins, sexual orientations, abilities, opinions and beliefs.
- 4.2. We recognize bias within and outside our church and work to overcome it.
- 5. We honor and respect one another when:
- 5.1. Our membership is engaged in church life and the path of church leadership.
- 5.1.1. Our Congregants understand our church structure.
- 5.1.2. Members accept positions in church leadership.
- 5.2. Members generously share human and financial resources.
- 5.2.1. Our members have a pattern of contribution at a Fair Share level.
- 5.2.2. Members regularly volunteer to support church activities.
- 5.3. Members and friends’ contributions are recognized and appreciated.
- 5.4. Our physical plant meets the needs of our congregants.

In service, we forge partnerships to foster compassion, hope and positive change in Lancaster and the world.
- 6. We forge partnerships when:
- 6.1. Our membership at large is invested in our church’s service activities.
- 6.2. Our church and our partners have mutual awareness of our shared goals and values.
