Our Staff

The Reverends Patricia Hart and Peter Newport began as co-ministers at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lancaster in August, 2006. Peter and Tricia had most recently served the Unitarian Universalist Church of Delaware County in Media, Pennsylvania. Tricia and Peter have five children, now all young adults, living in five different states. They are delighted to be in Lancaster, and look forward becoming a part of the community.

Tricia Hart grew up as a Catholic in Rochester, New York. She attended Brown University where she received an AB in Asian History. Tricia has lived in four different states in New England as well as Washington D.C., and lived for two years in Gabon, on the west coast of Africa. She worked as a career counselor and educational administrator, before attending Andover Newton where she completed her M. Div. in 1998. She has served churches in New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts, as well as Pennsylvania.

Peter Newport grew up in Providence, Rhode Island where he attended the First Unitarian Church as a teenager. As a young adult Peter worked in theater and received his BFA in Photography and Printmaking. After many years as a college administrator, Peter enrolled at Andover Newton Theological School where he completed his Master of Divinity. He served churches in Rhode Island and Massachusetts before coming to Pennsylvania, and has worked as a chaplain in both hospital and hospice settings.

Anne has been involved with performance all of her life. She studied dance and theater as a child and concentrated on voice at the Boston Conservatory of Music. Anne has performed in Opera, Musical Theatre, and on the concert stage on the East Coast, Italy, and the Philipinnes. She is currently working with the ensembles Le Stravaganza and The Three Sopranos. She has worked as Artistic Director with the Lancaster Opera Company, the Harrisburg Opera Youth Ensemble, and with Ephrata High School. Her most recent large production was a performance of “Sing for the Cure,” performed at the American Music Theatre as a Breast Cancer awareness concert and fund-raiser. Anne also maintains a voice studio at the Lancaster Conservatory of Music. Her professional affiliations include The Unitarian Universalist Musician’s Network and The National Association of Teachers of Singing.

Kate was born and raised in Lancaster County and grew up attending the Lancaster Unitarian Universalist Church. She has a B.A. from McDaniel College in Maryland having majored in International Studies and minors in Religious Studies and Human Rights. During college, Kate spent a semester abroad studying with the School for International Training’s Tibetan Studies program in India, Nepal and Tibet. Her college thesis took her back to India to interview Tibetan refugees who fought as freedom fighters during the Cold War. She has spent time running Amnesty International at McDaniel College and working on disability education workshops for children through the Lancaster Muscular Dystrophy Association. Kate’s interests include photography, writing, running, backpacking, and traveling through Asia.

Nadinne grew up in Lancaster County and has worked for three other churches in office administration and was a self-employed business owner. She was involved in forming the local Susquehanna Valley Chapter of the Association of Church Business Administrators. Nadinne enjoys reading, walking her dogs with her husband and loves to vacation every year with family at Hilton Head Island, SC.

Pianist, Doug Smith

Douglas graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in 2009 having studied Environmental Science and Music. Upon graduating he began managing the Eastern Market, while also working on a variety of local organic farms throughout Lancaster County. While Douglas remains passionate about building a local food system, he continues to pursue his music. He performs with hiphop/reggae act “The 21st Century Dreamtime Lions” (Lancaster), experimental metal group “the DRX"” (Philadelphia), and as a jazz pianist. Douglas also offers private piano lessons and holds a music residency with F&M’s Wohlson Center for the Sustainable Environment for 2011-2012.
